EPIC (European Partners in Christ) was founded in 1996 because the euphoria and excitement which had greeted the 'fall of the wall' and the end of Communism throughout the former 'Iron Curtain' countries was beginning to wane and less money was available to help the struggling churches.

The aim of EPIC was then and still is very simple, to provide evangelical, Bible believing churches with a supportive partner church in the UK. This would involve helping financially, praying for each other and exchange visits and work parties to help create the buildings and resources that are so urgently needed.

Many of the emerging countries, even those that are now members of the EU, are facing hardship and poverty due in part to the recession and the mismanagement of governments, so aid is still needed in order for new churches to be planted and existing ones to grow. Most pastors earn less than £200 a month and do not have a car to visit their congregations. Some pastors have 12 or even more churches in the villages and have to resort to hitch-hiking to get to their services!

EPIC forges the links between UK and Eastern European churches. We take the lead when money or help are needed. And we make sure that churches and Christian organisations in urgent need are connected with people who are able and willing to help them - in whatever way is necessary.
